Steven Boone was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1952. He attended The Maryland Institute College of Art, in Baltimore, where he received his BFA in painting in 1976. After graduating college, he moved to the southwest and lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1978. He is a father, husband, artist, writer, photographer, publisher and world traveler.
In March of 2021 Steven and his wife, the artist Amy Córdova Boone moved to Oaxaca, Mexico where they live and work from a home they purchased.
Steven has primarily worked as a painter, owning several art galleries through the years.
In 2008, Steven took a full year to travel around the world, painting, writing, and taking photographs. During this time, his painting, Van Gogh, All Hungup, was accepted to become part of the permanent collection of Fondation Van Gogh – Arles, located in Arles, France. The foundation includes a museum devoted to images that honor Vincent Van Gogh. His artwork is also part of the collection of the United States Department of Interior.
Boone's photographs have appeared on the cover of numerous books and magazines, including Album de Boda by Nora Roberts, and Délivrez-nous du Corps by Dominique Simonnet.
Boone's first book, A Heart Traced in Sand; Reflections on a Daughter’s Struggle for Life, won two awards: The 2001 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award, and the Writer’s Digest 2001 Award of Merit.
